Flea Market Day

I'm heading off to the Outdoor Flea Market at the Dome today. It's the first outside flea market that I think Rochester has had on a large scale. The Garage Sale Days at the Public market are fun, but this is three times the size. Now the picture above is not, obviously, from the one I'm headed off to today, but I can assure you if this table were here, I would have spent all the money I had. These bags are neat...hmmm....I think I have an idea coming on. Later everyone! I'll post my items, if any. Fingers crossed!!

My Fabric Has Been Shipped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited. I recieved an email last night from Spoonflower that my fabric has been shipped. This could be the start of a beautiful relationship. (insert big grin here!)

Apron Swap

I recieved my apron from my swap partner. It came all the way from Berlin Germany, and may I add it's just lovely. There's a sweet little butterfly detail on the bottom, and it came with a matching linen tea towel. I really like it!

New for the Store

I've finally gotten around to taking pictures and uploading some new purses for the store. I thought I would post the pics here so you could all see them. I've been madly sewing for my show in November but for now I'm putting them on the store so they have a chance to possibly sell before then. My sewing machine is made at me. I think it needs a new belt, so I'll be taking it in for a tune up over the next week or so...I'm so lonely without it.

Oh, my poor pocketbook!!!

I'm having fun with Illustrator. Here are some more of my ideas for fabric. The funny thing here is that the colors totally changed when I uploaded them here. They are nothing like the colors in the actual designs, but I really like them. Thanks computer for the cool color ideas. I think there's something here I need to go back and learn...lol. I think I need more money. :)

In other news...

I got my invitation to join the Spoonflower Beta. I'm very excited to have my own design printed onto fabric. Just the thought of it is AWESOME. I have been learning the new CS3 Suite with the help of a friend of mine at work and have my design ready to go. Now as soon as payday hits I click the ORDER button and it will be on it's way. Imagine that! Me as a fabric designer. Who knew?

UPDATE: Payday is here at last! Here's my design: I ordered two yards. In 2-3 weeks I should have it in the mail. I can't even tell you all how exciting this is. Just imagine the possibilities!!

Here's some info from an article about Spoonflower at ReadyMade:

"Just a spoonful: Spoonflower custom fabric
Feeling stymied by the fabric choices out there? Yeah, me too. So I was stoked to see that fabric is the next medium on its way to being fully customizable. Two husband-and-wife teams in Chapel Hill, NC have started Spoonflower, a web site where you can upload an image or pattern of your choice and have it printed on fabric. Because the site is still in beta (get your invitation to check it out by filling out this online form), all designs are printed on 100 percent cotton and you may only order up to 5 yards (at $18/yard). You can also order a sample swatch (8"x8) for $5 or a fat quarter (21"x18) for $11 to make sure you’re keen on your composition before you commit.Spoonflower’s FAQs include all the necessary details on how to compose a repeating pattern image, as all designs will be tiled to fit your chosen fabric size. Visit their blog to view a helpful slideshow that covers exactly how the process works, along with a video of recently printed fabrics from beta-testers. Plus, the turnaround time is pretty fast; Spoonflower estimates a mere week for printing and shipping. I dare say, this is a fabric revolution."

Going Green

I've gone green. I officially have one whole wall done, and it took four days. Yep, 4 days. I'm meticulous in case you all didn't already know that, so I guess four days on one wall is pretty normal for me. I even plan on going back over the trim when I'm done just to touch up where some green paint should not have ended up. So let's do the math. Today is June 12. If it takes four days per wall, painting every night without stopping, I should have the whole room complete by oh...hmmmm...June 24th. Well we'll see.

It's taken three coats of white to cover the yellow trim, and so far just two coats of the green. I started putting everything back in order along that one wall so I'll update with a picture over the next day or so. I really really really love it! It feels so much happier.

My mother and I moved into our house about 3.5 years ago now, and in all that time we've gone about renovating and redecorating it. I knew the minute we saw the house that I was going to have this particular bedroom and that I would eventually repaint it a lovely light light green. Well a few weeks ago my sister (thanks Jo) gave me these great dressers (she's redecorating as well), and although they are new to me, they work perfect for the space I have, and are better than anything I've ever had to date, so I'm pretty happy with them. Especially the one that fit perfectly in the back of my way to small, impossible to organize 1950's style closet. The dresser now works great for things like extra bedding, and winter hats and gloves. It's great! So anyway the whole redecorating bug has bit, and I bought the paint yesterday. The room will eventually be light green with white trim ( a far cry from the rooms yellow walls and yellow trim that I'm working with now) which will be such a FRESH change. I'll keep you posted. Happy Sunday everyone.

Apron Swap

I finished my apron for the swapbot apron swap I joined. I hope my partner likes it. I thought it came out cute. I especially like the ruffle on the pocket. It's just waiting for it's new owner to show it off this summer.

D'oh Moments!

Ever have one of those "d'oh" moments? Well I went to silk screening class, and well I was a month early. It doesn't meet until July 10!

One of the things I love about where I work is the ability to take classes for free. I have been waiting for the Screen Printing class to be available for what feels like forever and so, yay for me, I start it tonight! I'll keep yah posted.
