<span style="font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Organizing the "Hoard"</span></span> </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Wow, it's been a long time since my last post, and so much has happened during that time. I was hyper-focused on finishing up my degree, and it is with a great sigh of relief that I can say that in the Fall of last year I completed it. I now have the diploma for the wall, so it must be official. I did that while I was also working a full time job (about five months of which, I was covering both my work and the work of a coworker who moved to another position. In the mean time that meant that my personal business suffered. Well everything outside of those two things suffered really, I wasn't able to prepare and list a lot for the store to the extent it could have been. </span></span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">What I was still able to do during that time was shop for the store, <u>AND BOY DID I SHOP</u>! </span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I'm only now just starting to find my footing and focus again, so, as the heading of this blog implies, I had been steadily amassing a very extensive collection of fabrics over that time, so much so that it is now overwhelming my life. </span></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I have always collected fabrics, vintage sheets being the primary focus of my (yes I'll say it) ADDICTION, but because I could not prepare them for projects or for sales, it all just piled up. My mind is starting to turn to thoughts about moving in a little over a year, and the idea of taking it all with me is daunting. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Well then, so what does a self proclaimed fabric whore do when it all becomes this overwhelming?? She starts to purge, and this has become a purge on a grand scale. So far in two weeks, I have managed to empty two plastic tubs of fabric, which feels AMAZING! </span></span></div>

<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I have sorted, ironed, cut down, created new projects, donated, and given away pounds of scrap, and I'm not even close to done yet, but every night I go home and work some more. The room feels a little lighter and so do I. Not to mention it all looks so amazing when it is this organized, neat and in plain view. It just looks damn good! I'm even beginning to find new motivation to start sewing whole heartily again.</span></span></div>

I've made the start, and that's something to be proud of. Stay tuned, this "finisher" is underway. I hope to post more on the progress as it goes along. </span></span></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgInk-4BcGWl9h43cCZ-ZtC4pKyC2pOzlFsYu302rFxH1AMkP_n20JvLG1q_53arFZYr24sxeuX1DIv6MHBYEj3ejc30FnoVKL25jiXQHXLxOoyt6_QbaemH1Xpf8Je93SIEASjA/s1600/pinkfab.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgInk-4BcGWl9h43cCZ-ZtC4pKyC2pOzlFsYu302rFxH1AMkP_n20JvLG1q_53arFZYr24sxeuX1DIv6MHBYEj3ejc30FnoVKL25jiXQHXLxOoyt6_QbaemH1Xpf8Je93SIEASjA/s320/pinkfab.jpg" width="276" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace;">I have really missed my sewing machine. It's my sanity and my therapy, so not being able to use it for those reasons can be problematic, especially considering the insane stress of my day job. On top of that I've been doing an almost full time course load toward my degree (which thank god I only have a year left to do!!) Of course that hasn't meant that I have stopped buying fabric wherever I find it. The two pieces above were from a thrift store trip in March of this year. So, you can imagine my excitement when I got the opportunity to actually spend a day working on some fun projects for my graduating student assistants at work. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I choose to use a pattern from <span style="color: black;"><a href="http://www.michellepatterns.com/" target="_blank">michellepatterns.com</a></span></span><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"> who has been retiring a bunch. I've gotten over 40 patterns for $10.00, during two of her $5.00 Friday sales. The PDF's and instructions are fabulous and easy to follow. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I think the pink purse is my favorite of the two, even though I used vintage fabric for both. That one just seemed to feel more 1950's to me with that awesome gold thread running through it. I can see it with a simple dress or something fancier. I would even put a broach or two on it. </span></span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkrA-cAPdtxRnZaIx1Xc3GOwf86BWtr-nCrikE2TF_WidL9Q6GzX_xXJGdB64H7fLTWCICW0ryEvcXazX-J5aq8g_eIbejNgBnO6O_BYqPySI4ma-Aos-qzS_ejoLaSimTAlVcLA/s1600/IMG_20130513_191252_027.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="244" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkrA-cAPdtxRnZaIx1Xc3GOwf86BWtr-nCrikE2TF_WidL9Q6GzX_xXJGdB64H7fLTWCICW0ryEvcXazX-J5aq8g_eIbejNgBnO6O_BYqPySI4ma-Aos-qzS_ejoLaSimTAlVcLA/s320/IMG_20130513_191252_027.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">At any rate, I have 13 more days of freedom before my summer classes start, so my sewing machine and I will be, hopefully, spending some more quality time together. I have a big craft show in December, and I feel very behind with items to sell there. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Should I make more of these do you think? I swore I would never play with all the darts ever again, but now I'm debating it. Any thoughts??</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I learned a very important thing this past Friday. I lost a friend and co-worker. She was very sweet. She and I would talk on our lunch hours about all of the projects we were working on,and it seems that every time we met I would remind her of the skirt and jacket she had cut out but was still on her table to be sewn. I learned a lot from her and was better for having known her. I'll miss her alot. Life is precious, time is precious, don't waste it. I promise friend that I will do everything I set my mind to accomplish. This post is in honor of you, because I'm not wasting time with un-finished projects.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The photo above is just a cross section of the fabric that greets me as soon as I step foot into my basment studio, and it's my goal to use it all, eventually. I made a "goal" on New Years to not buy anymore, but of course I didn't stick to it very well. In my defense however it's been primiarily for the projects that I do need to work on. Like this laptop messenger bag below. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New;"></span><br /> </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="color: black; font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">This is for a co-worker who wanted a bag to carry her computer in. I made the pattern up as I went along, adding my own signature touches to it. I had exactly one yard of the floral fabric to work with, and I swore to use every last scrap of it. Once the bag was done, I made the key lanyard, and then the envelope pouch. I have a few more things to finish up, like the strap, and then it's all hers. I love specifically how the lanyard can link to keys or the envelope pouch. My computer is the same size and I think I'll be making my Dr. Who #10 bag in this style. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"><span style="color: black;">The envelope pouches below, I made for my sister's birthday in February. You might remember that I made a diamond patterned scrappy scarf out of the same fabrics, and since she loved that so much, I used the remainder of the fabric for these. I really enjoy making these up, and I plan to make a bunch for my craft booth. I found the pattern on </span><a href="http://www.michellepatterns.com/" target="_blank"><span style="color: black;">Michelle's Patterns</span></a><span style="color: black;">. Her patterns are realitively inexpensive and easy to make. </span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Another <em>Michelle's pattern</em> is the little owl coin purse that I'm totally addicted to making. They are amazing scrap busters and at Christmas time, I made my student assistants one a piece. They liked them. I have been slowly assembly lining them for sale at my craft booth too. I find it funny how they look mad while they go together. They each end up with their own little personality. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">In another effort to use up what I've got in the studio, I have been making fabric covered button magnets. <span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I'm not going to lie, I'm severely addicted to Pinterest. It's like a quick one stop shop for everything. Lately I just keep pinning recipes. I've tried a few now, and this one I actually thought to document throughout the process. Not sure why, but maybe it's because the inclination to start cooking, baking and spending any time in my kitchen at all took about 36 years to finally kick in. How`s that for a delayed domesticity huh?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Anyway, my blogs usually aren't about food, but since it's something I "made" I feel as if it meets the criteria for this blog. After all it's just crafting with a different medium right?</span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The crockpot has been taking up residence in the apartment for some time now. We had met briefly, but this was the first time we actually decided to date. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbl1_sv0ktWog0_FcmQZr-MNgdJh3U0JIynOH1Mm7EmpSxxvNkAH0OWjlM6MWXlFQ3z5c9f2xCzU8Gy1wVnIEowlQJwE3q5ixbIlqtwLb6D0Ys30XvBI2g3Ha87c0aMUqzBkwkLg/s1600/IMG_7321.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eda="true" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbl1_sv0ktWog0_FcmQZr-MNgdJh3U0JIynOH1Mm7EmpSxxvNkAH0OWjlM6MWXlFQ3z5c9f2xCzU8Gy1wVnIEowlQJwE3q5ixbIlqtwLb6D0Ys30XvBI2g3Ha87c0aMUqzBkwkLg/s400/IMG_7321.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The recipe is pretty simple. I mean look at it! It's just ingredients and time. No major work, unless you count actually opening the cans and dumping it into the crockpot.</span></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD1l7F1tOmZZ_MWrbcJ7md4mUKVkSEp9Bv5NGbVxFvOb8_C7mNt8iobBnoeUrPalkJo04nTz_FK6KB0equkJDsJlxod0chaVSETqN4LZ_r15rynlGPXdiRcWfAucCuaGchkM6iAw/s1600/IMG_7328.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eda="true" height="257" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD1l7F1tOmZZ_MWrbcJ7md4mUKVkSEp9Bv5NGbVxFvOb8_C7mNt8iobBnoeUrPalkJo04nTz_FK6KB0equkJDsJlxod0chaVSETqN4LZ_r15rynlGPXdiRcWfAucCuaGchkM6iAw/s400/IMG_7328.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Add five hours to the mix and it's all cooked down. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Here's a little note the recipe doesn't tell you, you actually have to take the chicken breasts out of the crockpot once they are tender and easily start to break apart. The chicken gets shredded down and put back in. It instantly thickens up the chili. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I used a Paula Dean`s Cornbread waffle recipe to make up a few of those on my trusty waffle maker and there you have it! Chicken Taco Chili. It's not super spicy like you would expect a chili to be, but I still added the cheddar cheese and sour cream. Come on, it would be a crying shame not to. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Another added note. One waffle and 3/4 cups worth of chili is enough to make you super full. This really did make what they consider eight servings, but in my household it's more like 16. We ended up feezing two and eating some throughout the week. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Can't you just imagine this bad boy for dinner once the fall weather comes round? At least this time I won't have to wait five hours! ;)</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Oh poor neglected blog of mine. Has it really been a month and a half almost since I last posted on you? That damn Pinterest, it's lured me away with the thrill of eventual fun things to do, make, bake, cook and visit. What's a girl to do when a bright shiny new site like that comes along? It completely turned my head, but fear not little blog I'm back. I promise that I will attempt to complete more, post more, and just all around not ignore you. </span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">For now I'm sharing the pictures of the craftiest things I've done this week so far. They are napkin sets made out of some of my reclaimed vintage bed linens. They are 16"x16" and are perfect for the random garden party or shower. It's the fastest way I could think to creatively start thinning out my stash. What do you think little blog? Does it pass for creative craftiness? We'll if not I promise to do better by you! Cross my heart! </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I love Hands, and I love to do hand portraits. Every now and again through my Etsy store I get an inquiry to do a commission piece for people of their families hands. This was a commission I received last year. I finished it in September while riding a bus to D.C., took pictures when I returned, and then my back went out again for the second time. Hello Vicodin haze!! I just found the pictures tonight while cleaning out some files on my computer. I really wanted to share the finished project with you. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The lovely lady who ordered this had a pretty big family. There were six total. She sent me the tracing for each hand by email. I realized pretty quickly that all six hands wouldn't fit in the hoop individually so I asked if I could take some artistic license. I decided to make all the hands intersect, as if they were growing from each other. It worked out amazingly, one starts and stops within the other. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Oy! I certainly took on a project when I decided to make a mini quilt of this blogs QR code. I didn't really think at the time I was taking on a "postage stamp" quilt. The pieces when they are finally sewn together end up being the size of a postage stamp. I've made it so far to row seven. There are about 23 more rows to go. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">You can see from the chart how precise I am about making sure there's no square out of place. <span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">These lightweight scarves are so much fun to make and they go together so fast. I finished this one up this weekend. What I mostly enjoy is that I've been able to use up remnants of fabric that I've had in the studio forever. I am in love with this one and how amazing it came out. The purple just makes it pop! Isn't it pretty</span>?</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Since I've been doing so much cleaning in the studio I now have a few boxes of cut down diamonds of fabric. I'm all about reducing, reusing, and recycling so I've cut down some vintage linens and I can't wait to get started on the next one. Stay tuned!! </span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I'm really starting to get to the point where I can begin working on unfinished projects again. It's been a while since I've communed with the sewing studio as much as I have the last two weekends. I even managed to get items listed on my store too. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">We'll this weekend I decided to work on some scrappy scarves that I had cut out. This one is my favorite so far. It's identical to the one I made for my niece for Christmas last year. The center floral diamonds are cut from a vintage linen curtain. It was in great shape, but had a hole in it, so it was never going to work as a curtain again. The yellow floral fabric was something I picked up along the way at Craftbits. I had a good few yards of that. I think they were amazing the way the colors play off of each other. I hope to get it listed in the store this week. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">This little scrappy scarf below, in the pink and blue is a birthday present for a student worker. We realized last week that we had forgotten her birthday. I was really tired, having worked on other projects, but having no money to go buy something for her, I figured it was best to whip something together. I decided to use the colors below because she dyed the ends of her hair in pink and blue. I thought they might play off of each other. My diamonds didn't line up perfectly this time round, but I've learned a few tricks with the template so that's not happening on the next few I have started putting together. I hope she likes it! </span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I think overall it's pretty cute and feminine. Not my particular style, but it will really work for her. She has this denim jacket with doilies sewn to it, that will pull the whole look together. </span></div>

<span style="font-family: Courier New;">Well, I just wanted to share some of my finished crafty projects. I'm off to work on some spray painting now. What crafty things did you get up to this weekend?</span></div>

And Loving it!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">This weekend turned out to be an amazing one for me when it came to communing with my studio again. I've been so long away from it on a full time basis that I took every opportunity to stick with it while the muse struck. In all I managed to get four pieces of clothing made, two more strips on my QR code quilt, and a number of other projects prepped and ready to go. The most amazing part however is that I can now see my sewing table, which is organized and clean. That right there was worth all the effort. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">My main goal this weekend was to finish up as many cut out projects as I could. I bought a vintage wrap dress pattern recently, and cut it out almost immediately, however it sat cut out for almost three weeks.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<span style="font-family: Courier New;">It's been needling at me to be finished, so come heck or high water (which there was some threat of with all the rain) I was going to get it done, and I did! </span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">My first wrap dress is done! I'm pleasantly surprised at how it came out. I amended the pattern a little bit as I went along, and I'm not thrilled at the placement of the inner ties that hold this all closed, but that can be changed on the next dress. This one is made from a beautiful vintage sheet, and it's lined with a light tan colored fabric. I'm dying to see how it will look on an actual human being so if you are a misses size 8-10 , I'm in need of a model, so just let me know</span>. The dress form is only a size 6.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">My other unfinished projects, what I affectionately call "the blouses" are now finished as well. There are only two shown here in a state of semi completion. They are all from vintage linens as well. My favorite is a little blue/green one not pictured , but I really love the pink and green one too. I have to take a photo of them finished on the form, but the sweat shop was very busy, and the sewing took precedence over the picture taking (I will, I promise).</span></div>

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I started working this weekend on my personal QR code quilt, and I have to say that at this point the easiest part has been buying the fabric. I stopped at Joann Etc. on Sunday to pick up Black and White Kona Cotton which is hands down the best quality solid colored cotton there is out right now. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I realized quickly that to obtain the finished size I wanted for my booth at the end of the year I would have to make the squares pretty small, so in the end I decided on 1.5" squares. I've never worked with squares this tiny before and the finsihed strip ends up being only 1" wide. Kinda tiny for my fat fingers, but I'm determined to keep going. This picture above isn't the best, I took it quickly with my smart phone, but there are two strips of squares done now, and a binding edge. I only have about 37 more rows to go! Wish me luck. I've begun to think I bit off more than I can chew here, but the knowledge of how amazing it's going to look spurs me on. Fingers crossed! </span></div>Lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08034448221031458999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18745366.post-84828850401698223352012-04-04T19:19:00.001-04:002012-04-04T19:19:36.565-04:00Yah!, that's right! I'm quilting it!!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I have been completely inspired by the recent <a href="http://blog.spoonflower.com/2012/03/qr-code-quilt.html" target="_blank">Staff Challenge at Spoonflower.com</a>. They made a QR quilt out of fabric designed on their site, and which actually takes you their when you scan it with your smart phone. I fell head over heels with the idea and yes, now have a new project on the plate. I painstakingly mapped out my own QR code on graph paper, holding my breath the whole time until I could scan it. Just one square off and I would have been starting the graph over.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I am not going to make mine out of 4.5" squares like the Spoonflower staff members did. I'm planning on more like 2" squares will be a bit faster. I don't want to get bored with it, and even at that size it's still going to measure just under 60x60" without binding. Guess I'm going to the fabric store, I'm going to have to restock the Kona Cotton. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">I'm up for the challenge though! Wish me luck!! </span></div>

Little floral dresses that is!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I love the fact that after so long away from it, I am finally able to get back to some sewing, which is such a big part of who I am. It's as natural as breathing. I been able to pull out a pile of projects I've cut out to make over the past few years, and decided, I would see what I could get done. It's been great! </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">A number of my former students have been the benificiary of some cool things in the mail, like embroidered pillows, and screen printed totebags, but this, this little dress has been haunting me for ages. </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSoNgLN8QfdLd3AhuA-7roGH9jALiYHlvpFXTpLNzQAyQzWdHKI_G_maKDcOW4LOjzAeRaiBhFbqrpCb54Nw_2vp2Yt0sJuyf1GgY-JYNY4VSWjSss9Fc08R2CyWhfAcqMlfgy0A/s1600/IMG_6118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSoNgLN8QfdLd3AhuA-7roGH9jALiYHlvpFXTpLNzQAyQzWdHKI_G_maKDcOW4LOjzAeRaiBhFbqrpCb54Nw_2vp2Yt0sJuyf1GgY-JYNY4VSWjSss9Fc08R2CyWhfAcqMlfgy0A/s320/IMG_6118.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">It started out much longer, but that was starting to look a lot like a mumu. I cut almost 16" from the base, and now it's more of a mini dress. It's made from a vintage sheet (yes, I've started to cut into the collection) with a floral pattern I fell in love with. It's so close to being finished. There's not much left to do to it now except put the elastic in the sleeves and make/thrift a little belt for it. Then I will post it in my store to see if it will sell. I've always wanted to make clothing for the store from my vintage materials and this is an exciting start. We'll see.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Courier New;">What do you think of the start of my new clothing collection? Pretty fun, huh??</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Now that I'm a few months into 2012, I've had some time to reflect on the direction I plan to go this year. I've also had time to start catching up on projects left over from 2011. With the first quilt done, I am steadily beginning to see the list be checked off, and so far the body is behaving, allowing me to make good progress. I've even begun to get back to listing things on my store and plan also to start classes again tomorrow, after a full year away from it. It feels so awesome! I can only hope that the progress will continue, because it's the first time, in a long time, I'm starting to feel as if life is settling out. It's amazing. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">This little project above is a long overdue post of a project I was able to accomplish while sitting on the couch after surgery last may. It was supposed to be a tote bag originally with three of these little ladies in a row, but I bit off more than I had patience for, and only finished one. After it was finished it got set aside until almost September when I thought it would make a cool ornament as a going away gift for a professor who had brought me two sets of nesting dolls from her trips to Russia. She knew how much I loved them. I hope to be able over the next few months, as I continue this forward progress, to post more posts of the finished projects I'm managing. I hope you'll stick with me as I continue to share my works. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">Here's to 2012, a very good year so far!</span></div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">So here it is! The baby quilt is done and it came out amazing! I am so happy with how it turned out. The blanked it made from a combination of clothing that included cotton, jersy, flannel and fleece and is lined with 100% cotton batting. Even though it took me almost 17 months to do because of my disabilities last year, it was a pleasure to have done it, and I've been told that little Jade snuggled with it right away. She calls it her "special blanket". That's enough to warm my heart! </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj75ZQ-2kmVTfG70en2VDFpaU-ux4iIWmovNzjv4bsMUuirQjB1I2Mcc9oYVPsXVZKOBu9kVkqAJDTMqjEH-xnbF3vYhFDB6V1UaV8bhdLG9NGviKcoUBJqhVbyxKk4Bh4NrC5QqA/s1600/IMG_5719.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj75ZQ-2kmVTfG70en2VDFpaU-ux4iIWmovNzjv4bsMUuirQjB1I2Mcc9oYVPsXVZKOBu9kVkqAJDTMqjEH-xnbF3vYhFDB6V1UaV8bhdLG9NGviKcoUBJqhVbyxKk4Bh4NrC5QqA/s320/IMG_5719.JPG" width="307" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The fabric I used on the back.</span><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">We've been working steadily along on the move to my new townhouse, and in between all the lugging, loading, unloading and sweating beyond belief, I've also been working on the new to me, upcycled dining room table and chairs. I did some research online, that stated Kilz Original Spray Primer would cut my time in half when it came to prepping the table/chairs for painting. It works amazingly. I filled in all of the dings I could with wood filler, sanded them down, sprayed the chairs with Kilz primer and went to town with the Rustoleum 2 coat coverage spray paint. </span></div><br />

I haven't attached the seats yet because I want to clear coat protect them. I found out this week, thanks to mom, that Rustoleum makes a clear coat coverage spray too, and she got me two cans for the price of the normal sealer. I've finished one chair with that this evening and it looks amazing. Now we'll have somewhere cool to sit in the new apt. Watch my thrift blog for all of the fun new items i've come across recently that will coordinate in our new happening dining room/kitchen. </span></div>Lisahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08034448221031458999noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18745366.post-2784787149445585692011-08-18T09:38:00.000-04:002011-08-18T09:38:01.111-04:0099/44 100% Drawers Don't stick anymore!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlsmFQKse870pwg_lqlFc0Zxcg04mjwnCLJZZwpOHxYf2-B8ofjjzvcOOKopCbyd-hD5UlVMnLHLplsB-dwSn4tfKkNKeUuVqJoJGAq1s3Tfem_fDog26dVZStF1AyW25mquRB7A/s1600/soaplg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhlsmFQKse870pwg_lqlFc0Zxcg04mjwnCLJZZwpOHxYf2-B8ofjjzvcOOKopCbyd-hD5UlVMnLHLplsB-dwSn4tfKkNKeUuVqJoJGAq1s3Tfem_fDog26dVZStF1AyW25mquRB7A/s320/soaplg.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="font-family: "Courier New",Courier,monospace; text-align: justify;">Here's a helpful little tip for everyone. Ivory Soap is not just for cleaning anymore, well I guess it never really was, but I thought this was a great solution. I just finished painting my desk, and annoyingly one drawer decided to stick where the paint met. I chalked it up to the wood being swollen from the extreme heat and humidity we've been having, but as it's cooled off the problem persisted. I went on the hunt for wax thinking if I waxed the drawer and lip where the paint was sticking the drawer would slide open more easily (kind of like using butter to get someones head stuck from between a banister or something). We'll I guess my mother realized what I was up too because she caught me just in time to not use the wax (which will melt and stick the drawer and desk together!! DUH right?!) and said, what I wanted was soap. I grabbed a bar of soap started to rub it on the desk, and what do you know the drawer opens now without sticking. AWESOME! I just had to share this really easy solution with everyone in case you had a similar situation going on in your home. </div><br />

I know my capabilities and talents, and yets what I don't seem to learn is my sense of time management. Right now I feel like my life is completely up in the air. I'm sure many of you have had this feeling before, like you've taken all the balls of your life and tossed them into the air, only to juggle them in the hopes of not letting anything drop. Well that's what I feel like, like I'm juggling. With all the responsibilites at work, and planning a move, I've gone and added more refinishing to my plate. I'm in this race to get as much done before I lose the use of a garage to do sanding and painting, and let me not even get into all of the sewing commissions I've gotten behind in because I lost twelve weeks of my life from a back injury. I can't be the only one that does this right? I hope there are some of you out there that do this too, because I'd hate to think I was alone. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">So anyway, this week I realized that all the tables and chairs we currently owned were too big for the new townhouse, so that sent me on a search of craigslist to see what I could find, and to make a long story short, yesterday we picked up my "new to me" mid century modern dining table and chairs. They are a bit chippy and have seen some wear, but it's nothing that my capable woodfiller, sander, and can of spray paint can't fix. This is where the additional work comes in. </span></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNcx2S4Npi-jkHFUg5eVQIDhenr0UhB16j45CjwWB9yb7tg_KT_ysuS3DSbM0lHPiA9wxNg0j84cGMJP3NxxeEdZZFSNY8hk9hyphenhyphenvAAOrydeov7PZYbK7aOFFpR5XyP-zpgPtTSbA/s1600/IMG_4744.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNcx2S4Npi-jkHFUg5eVQIDhenr0UhB16j45CjwWB9yb7tg_KT_ysuS3DSbM0lHPiA9wxNg0j84cGMJP3NxxeEdZZFSNY8hk9hyphenhyphenvAAOrydeov7PZYbK7aOFFpR5XyP-zpgPtTSbA/s320/IMG_4744.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Here is a picture of the current state of the desk I've been working on for a few weekends now. I've lost track of the time and expense, but at this point, all it needs is two more coats of paint. I've finished all of the drawers and put the hardware back on them. For the picture I inserted one, so you could all see just how nice it's going to look. I plan on protecting the surface with a piece of Plexi-glass cut to size. I will first see if I can salvage that from the desk we are already using, and if it won't come clean, I'll just break down and have a new one cut. Jury is still out, but I should have that decided before the desk is in it's new home and the computer gets set up. </span></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmYWq6ecl3f-3MadbADlvWNRZg_yKWFvxr1XjMr0czUyethFZZ0BunHaf59Uj_fW0XaGxuy2g7eE3fRfV-wP9zutLFmQEX_129BqOMGFEEXQPg4akcRXQeYTnERUPL7KF3OmW14g/s1600/IMG_4746.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmYWq6ecl3f-3MadbADlvWNRZg_yKWFvxr1XjMr0czUyethFZZ0BunHaf59Uj_fW0XaGxuy2g7eE3fRfV-wP9zutLFmQEX_129BqOMGFEEXQPg4akcRXQeYTnERUPL7KF3OmW14g/s320/IMG_4746.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;">I want to take a minute here for a little product plug. Has anyone else tried this Frog Tape yet? I want to just say here that I will never, ever, ever use the blue painters tape again. This stuff does exactly what it says it does and I've never experienced such perfect, crisp paint lines with no bleeding under the tape, the stuff is amazing!!</span></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5bvpfDS4Ih85esqYd93e4kJIg2DnlUiwvClu5zTJyGaBAtOzwhmVVePY6_Tqpva26NIvQv_cAJOoKT4-YYApFAPRV-uakhmsMGTM04GwyBveYUZxzGz0tZt_OdQR37Mo1umgNAg/s1600/IMG_4749.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5bvpfDS4Ih85esqYd93e4kJIg2DnlUiwvClu5zTJyGaBAtOzwhmVVePY6_Tqpva26NIvQv_cAJOoKT4-YYApFAPRV-uakhmsMGTM04GwyBveYUZxzGz0tZt_OdQR37Mo1umgNAg/s320/IMG_4749.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Here is the current state of the garage! Lot's of furniture, lots of paint, lots of boxes. </span></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-6SrtiJk-5iX8fjWJvOrV6NkAHM_-tVZwsuwdJeM7xwr6I3vmQFu19GgiPIZ623Nj_uPCgoo5jhm3SJCBsqhMb3HqS8z8H_qGd2yzJtAPYgW3MbLoJtdTuhGLpVILh8q9t6Xd0A/s1600/IMG_4748.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-6SrtiJk-5iX8fjWJvOrV6NkAHM_-tVZwsuwdJeM7xwr6I3vmQFu19GgiPIZ623Nj_uPCgoo5jhm3SJCBsqhMb3HqS8z8H_qGd2yzJtAPYgW3MbLoJtdTuhGLpVILh8q9t6Xd0A/s320/IMG_4748.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">And now, Introducing my new table and chairs! I am completely in love with Mid-Century Modern Design, so when I went on the search for a set, I started with Craigslist. This set is sturdy wood with a modern tapered leg. It has a drop leaf that extends the table larger if we need, but with the leaf down it's the perfect size for our new home. They have some nicks and dings, but I'm more than confident that they will all clean up with some tender loving care, new paint and new fabric. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQYYIh9QDeXZ1M_u8YwRpUoOnlIMC-16u_-UOOk9GBmjbGsAR4Gzjz-pxAZK5ZNLMXeHRk5dnhCG0TkNS9uUZHT_giNTvzYMODeEFs6BEwKe4-jvCphRX-KjScOKJ61DQ4HhJdHA/s1600/IMG_4741.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQYYIh9QDeXZ1M_u8YwRpUoOnlIMC-16u_-UOOk9GBmjbGsAR4Gzjz-pxAZK5ZNLMXeHRk5dnhCG0TkNS9uUZHT_giNTvzYMODeEFs6BEwKe4-jvCphRX-KjScOKJ61DQ4HhJdHA/s320/IMG_4741.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I've already picked out the paint, and bought four cans to start. This Rustoleum paint is amazing at covering in less coats ( I used it on some shutters for my table display and it was amazing), and I just couldn't resist the lure of the robins egg blue. I'll try to post pics as I go of the progress, but all of this furniture will start with the removal of seat cushions and a nice soapy wash down. Well I better sign off here. If I don't get painting soon, I won't finish any of these projects, and the weather will be getting hot and muggy, perfect for drying paint, but I don't want to be sweaty longer than I have too. :)</span> </div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">For the last four weekends I have been attempting to refinish a 1950's wooden desk that I have owned for about 11 years now. I got a great deal on it at a thrift store, and knew that I would eventually refinish it, but never got around to it. I've recently been motivated by the fact that we will be moving soon, and I won't have the use of a garage to do the level of sanding, furniture stripping, and painting that I've been used to up to this point, and since the apt. will be smaller this desk will become our computer desk in the main common area. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">It had this horrible yellow veneer on it that took almost two weekends to sand through, before I gave up and bought a non-toxic paint stripper, which took 1/3 of the time to remove the veneer. Lesson learned, start there! </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Courier New;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Since I was putting on a more modern looking hardware I also had to fill in some of the grooves that were in the drawers, but the wood filler worked well, and then required a bit more sanding.</span> </span></div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The desk looked amazing when it was finally completely stripped of it's veneer, but it's at this point you learn a lot about the furniture's maker. For instance the desk is made from different types of wood, that when stripped are lighter and darker than each other. Still it's a fabulous base to work from.</span> </div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Yesterday I went over to The Home Depot and picked up a simple white semi-gloss enamel paint with a primer already in it, and put two coats on the drawers. With the 90+ degree heat we have been having the paint dried in no time. It's still going to take a few more coats, but I think at this point it's already a remarked improvement. We have a bit of a cool front that came through today, so I'm heading down in a few to tack cloth the desk body itself and then start painting that. With any luck I should have this all done and ready before we start to move in the next few weeks. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">After this there's only a few small spray paint projects left, and I will be all finished with the backed up refinishing projects I've accumulated over the last few years!</span> </div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I've been working at my current position at R.I.T. now for five years, and in all that time, perhaps more, there has been, hanging on the wall this mirror. This big, brown, plastic mirror. I've been staring at it for five years, and every time I look at it, it makes me cringe. Well yesterday I took it off the wall, brought it home, and took it apart. Then I brought out my current most favorite creative tool in the world! Ready for it? <em>Insert Drumroll here!</em></span></div><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">That's right! Krylon Indoor/Outdoor Gloss White spraypaint! <div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">It's almost ready to be reassembled. <span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I have a laundry list of projects that I have been working on trying to finish up now that I can get back to them, and one was the shrine for a beautiful Italian Mary statue that yes, I did get at a thrift store a few years back. My best friend mentioned that she had picked up a bunch of old sewing machine drawers and I asked if I could have one. It is exactly the right size to house Mary safely on the wall. The drawer was old with holes in the front and top, had a sticker stuck to it, and layers of varnish. It was a mess, but had amazing potential. I started by using WD-40 to get the old sticker off, washed the drawer and filled in the holes with wood filler. Once that was all set, a few rounds of elbow grease and course sandpaper did it's trick on the varnish, and wood filler. All the sides were now smooth and even, and ready to accept the paint. I used a sapphire blue metallic acrylic paint. It took almost five coats, but when the light hits it, it just gleams. It's the perfect color for Mary, don't you think? </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcC2244MwQC8E7g6RPGfbj0cZgC3WeegjQ9Nq6wc55rahrWWnxnGNdnBpaUlCiv3cneHlfWuVziWZBhcY9NypS7N8VYXwFVr_-Z36UrhAWXEgcfq94XwcA_eR02OilTpQRlHDsfg/s1600/IMG_4555.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcC2244MwQC8E7g6RPGfbj0cZgC3WeegjQ9Nq6wc55rahrWWnxnGNdnBpaUlCiv3cneHlfWuVziWZBhcY9NypS7N8VYXwFVr_-Z36UrhAWXEgcfq94XwcA_eR02OilTpQRlHDsfg/s400/IMG_4555.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">I then had to figure out how to decorate the box itself. It deserved something simple, soft and pretty. I drilled two holes in the back inside (formally bottom of the drawer) in order to put the screws in later when it would hang on the wall. In order to cover those, I used a piece of matte board, cut to the size of the back (formally bottom) and covered it with batting and a beautiful snippet of a blue and white floral Waverly sample I've had sitting around. I taped the batting and fabric to the board and slipped it in. It pops out easily for quick removal from the wall if need be. Then it was onto the sides of the box. They were too plain, and the blue was a bit too intense. I picked up some white craft doilies, and glued those to the sides of the box. Then I used the same Waverly fabric to make different sized floral yo-yo flowers with a bead in the center. I'm very happy with how the whole thing turned out. Now I'm looking for a Buddha figure because I'm envisioning him in a box of his own, perhaps, I'm thinking, in copper! </span></div><br />

<div align="center"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">This is the adventure of the .99 cent thrift store chair. It all started one afternoon on a Sunday at the Volunteers of America Store on Jefferson Road in Henrietta. My mother and I had attempted to make a short trip wandering around the store. Unfortunately at the time I was experiencing severe pain in my back and leg due to a fractured disc fragment embedded in my sciatic nerve. That's a pain I don't wish on anyone. I wandered over into the furniture section and found this funny little lonely chair all by itself. I noticed how the price of the chair had been increasingly marked down, and plopped down, letting mom wander the rest of the store until she was done and came back to find me. This ugly little chair turned out to be one of the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat in. It's soft and has exactly the right amount of lower and upper back support. I had heard somewhere that there was vinyl spray paint, so I decided I would give it a chance at a new life. Mom hoisted it into the cart to roll it to the register, and I asked the cashier if it really truly was only .99.</span></div><div align="center"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">She said it was my "lucky day!" It was dismantled right down to the frame, which was in very bad, very rusty shape! I also asked his advice about vinyl spray paint, since he knows a lot about cars, I'd figure that he had heard of the stuff. He confirmed my suspicions and told me what to look for at the auto parts store. I only knew one thing. That the seat and back should be white. Everything looks better white. I also planned to leave the arm rests wooden. We went to the auto parts store and they had every color except white, so I ended up buying the Rustoleum vinyl paint online from amazon. It took four cans to cover, but it worked relatively well.</span></div><br />

I had some Krylon spray paint left over from another project and set to work putting a few coats onto that, once I'd given them a good sanding.</span> </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyqL_nDBX4T0FR38n_c_oIdJqJnxWOn3gALijhO_8Aykx6Dk-altEjvGEfiD9ezLOEW7LIuI6Nvwgb1Ts6LtXmA8RRagcMuGNR6LeK7lTZs0DuQ-ufxGq8Hpc5KSOdOCcixeGUHg/s1600/IMG_4081.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyqL_nDBX4T0FR38n_c_oIdJqJnxWOn3gALijhO_8Aykx6Dk-altEjvGEfiD9ezLOEW7LIuI6Nvwgb1Ts6LtXmA8RRagcMuGNR6LeK7lTZs0DuQ-ufxGq8Hpc5KSOdOCcixeGUHg/s320/IMG_4081.jpg" t8="true" width="252" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">The one thing I didn't count on was the chair seats sticking to my table surface due to the humidity. I ended up with a few areas that peeled away from the surface of the seat, and no amount of re-spraying was going to cover the indentations it caused so I had to come up with a way to cover these areas. It took me two days to come up with the idea to use vinyl wall decorations they sell at home decoration stores. The only criteria was that the images needed to be big to cover the peeled paint. I initially thought great big flowers would work, but in the end went with the butterflies which had a softer feel to them. For the most part they adhered very well to the seat surface, but to be safe I spray sealed them with a clear sealer. Again Krylon came to the rescue.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw7Z672F1Tl21b0M_PGQYC5stta7bELdGB8r-MfnAK9lxCVWFM0p0ZUyXMjpVvV04rZPXV0a4DZuUoguh8pk7a0oH9dhGcjP2MV1lj3Zx1Lqurexn8qal2iFoJTh4MAsJayp7-QQ/s1600/IMG_4233.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiw7Z672F1Tl21b0M_PGQYC5stta7bELdGB8r-MfnAK9lxCVWFM0p0ZUyXMjpVvV04rZPXV0a4DZuUoguh8pk7a0oH9dhGcjP2MV1lj3Zx1Lqurexn8qal2iFoJTh4MAsJayp7-QQ/s320/IMG_4233.jpg" t8="true" width="320" /></a></div><br />

The frame was horribly rusty, so I had to attack it with a wire brush, and a tack cloth. Then I set about to paint. OMG!! I fell in love with that paint. It only took less than a half a can to cover, and it looked amazing. It did however give off a nice fine chrome colored powder if you touched it, so again I rubbed it down with a soft cloth, to get as much of that off as possible and attacked it with three coats of the clear sealer.</span> </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicQruv4n6TTyyC30H9V29WWmP6twjhUEC-AbWH1UaHGr0He2PYqMATIqziuLV0NG0gT5MW95VmxB4HwkRfu_IjQBSmofZMqZK4YMuM9TxwCllFObLYptyMAlGXmot1ueUtTK-7yQ/s1600/IMG_4433.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicQruv4n6TTyyC30H9V29WWmP6twjhUEC-AbWH1UaHGr0He2PYqMATIqziuLV0NG0gT5MW95VmxB4HwkRfu_IjQBSmofZMqZK4YMuM9TxwCllFObLYptyMAlGXmot1ueUtTK-7yQ/s320/IMG_4433.JPG" t8="true" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">Then is was just a matter of screwing it all back together! I think it came out amazing. It's not perfect but then again, what is. It is however beautiful, functional, and super comfy. It ended up costing almost 45.00 in the end to revamp it, but it was totally worth it. It will be less if I take back the two cans of chrome spray paint (but I really don't want too! anyone want something chrome painted...lol) ;)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT6ruNGFrb3wwgl18Ir2vUg_BeSTnxv_nFAhmtSuCBLJAJXyCXUrFcgmoJDu10aX-2nORflJ9q4MhuEhDKeyMY11FU_dBTtqjMXXuAG-MkdHrNiJZ9GT9p-9DM_n89PN0UxhuRuQ/s1600/IMG_4438.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT6ruNGFrb3wwgl18Ir2vUg_BeSTnxv_nFAhmtSuCBLJAJXyCXUrFcgmoJDu10aX-2nORflJ9q4MhuEhDKeyMY11FU_dBTtqjMXXuAG-MkdHrNiJZ9GT9p-9DM_n89PN0UxhuRuQ/s320/IMG_4438.JPG" t8="true" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: black; font-family: "Courier New", Courier, monospace;">This is the finished chair.
